Valadié essentially is an optimistic, an idealistic artist who many times has said: “I feel happy when I paint. I want all men to feel happy when looking at my paintings, let them have as much pleasure looking at them as I have creating them. I am, I want to be a ‘happiness dealer’.”  He also seeks to bring joy and love to others with his paintings which derive their sensation of intense happiness from their incredible light.  Children, birds and the sun are motifs that often appear in his works, yet the central figure in all his painting remains woman.  In the words of Yves Courrière: “For him a woman is the source of all happiness and of all trouble.  She is the most beautiful creature in the world.  It is she who joins dream and reality.  She is ever present in Valadié’s work, for he would be unable to paint had he not been eternally in love.  He untiringly represents her ever more beautiful, ever more ideal, ever more melancholic.” As Yves Courrière writes, concluding his essay on Valadié, “Blessed be the man who wants to bring us happiness. And succeeds. For he has not wasted his life.”*
