Vany, the 20th century German painter, was apprenticed to Rudolph Hotter, a religious and church painter in Augsburg, in 1936 at the age of fifteen. In 1939 he attended the Munich Academy where he studied under Otto Meier.
Beginning in 1951 he worked as an independent painter and also continued his education in Paris, Amsterdam, Rome and Tunis. In 1963 he was listed in the International Directory of Arts. By 1965, his distinctive and prismatic style was established. He became a member of the International Arts Guild in Monte Carlo in 1968, and that year and the following year he participated in international exhibitions in Charleroi, Paris, Rome and Monte Carlo, winning, among other awards, two gold medals.
